This week’s episode marks a significant milestone for me, as this is episode #50 of my podcast! I am so thrilled to be recording this for you.
Over the years of coaching, I found what I love to do the most is to help women to find more success and joy in their career or running their business. And at the same time, help them to find the right work-life balance so that they can also enjoy a great life outside of work with their relationships and well-being as well.
I guess that’s why I love the concept of Goddess, and I wrote a book about them! When I think about the image of a goddess, I see a feminine figure who is beautiful and powerful. And that is what I want all of us to live like and be at heart. Feeling inspired and empowered.
So with my podcast, I share my mindset, productivity tips, time management strategies, as well as how to work with feminine wisdom to become more productive and creative. They will help you to save time and energy for your loved ones and for your body, mind and soul too!
Ageing gracefully is something I now start to advocate and in the coming weeks I am also going to share with you what I know and what works for me personally. I hope you will love these new topics too!
This week I want to share with you something that is not new, it’s actually based on ancient wisdom, and people have been practising for hundreds of years. This is becoming more and more trendy to follow and no longer just “New Age” stuff but very much in the mainstream and recommend by other life coaches or wellness experts.
Well, you may have guessed it from the title. Yes, it is about the new moon coming up on 25th January. Actually, I love it so much that I am going to give you my reflection journal and new intentions fun sheets to help you to get the most out of this new moon. Just click on this link, and you can use them this week. (No sign up required!)
But before we dive into the reasons why this week is excellent to harness new ideas and creative energy, let me give you a bit of background and context here.
Even though I wrote a book about goddesses and archetypes, I wasn’t actually knee-deep into moon cycles or the feminine wisdom that is associated with our menstrual cycle.
Many of you are probably aware of the association of feminine energy and masculine energy.
But just to give you some examples, traditionally we say:
Creating, nurturing, receiving are actions or state of being that is related to feminine energy.
Competing, asserting, giving or doing are more related to masculine energy.
There is a place for both, and that’s why we need both energies to run the world.
I came across the term “Egg Wisdom” a couple months ago, and I’d love the idea to reflect on our body and mind with our natural environment. I love the notion about cyclical living, where we don’t go 100% high speed all the time just because we want to achieve our goals or dreams. It makes total sense to me. We take a different type of action with a different kind of focus to varying times of the month or year or even life stage.
For instance, in most parts of the world, there are four seasons, namely: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. It is just the environment that surrounds us. We live and breath in alignment with nature.
I wrote about this in my book Goddess with Many Faces, and I compared it with the women cycle of life where we naturally go through all these stages. The four life stages are Maiden, Mother, Matriarch and Wise woman. We feel drawn to different expressions and pursues in different life stage. We have different energy as we go through these changes.
Now think about it, we can also scale it back and compare it with our monthly cycle or phases of the moon. There is a time when we get inspired, ideas start to flow, and we grow the seeds of a new project or adventure. Next, we want to nurture or “brew” our thoughts and explore them further. Then, it comes a time where we are prompted to take a lot of action and bring those ideas to fruition and completion. Finally, there is a time when we feel the need to rest and take time off or reflect on what we have done and accomplished.
Perhaps it is because I am pregnant, I am more “tuned in” or “hormonal”. I find myself become more observant towards my emotional and physical state as the baby is growing inside of me.
I do notice a pattern with my creativity and productivity that is very much influenced by the moon cycle as I just described. It seems logical and super fun to map my working schedules with these changes of energy as well.
For instance, with the last full moon (which was an eclipse by the way), it was said to be a great time to release, let go of the past and to forgive.
As we were just leaving 2019 behind and stepping into 2020, I thought it was a great time to let go of a couple of things that I wasn’t happy about. A project that I’ve invested time, energy and heart into actually turned out to be rather disappointing.
But the “message in a mess” is that I’ve met some wonderful people in the process. I just know in my bones that I love to collaborate with like-minded and whole-hearted people, it “fuelled me up” and I don’t have to do everything solo, so to speak.
I am a super-duper practical person, please don’t imagine me with an elaborate ritual for that. However, I love to participate in ceremonies hosted by others in festivals or fun events. I did a meditation, wrote my heart out and intentionally released the past. I felt was ready to move on and receive all the new energy for this year. I subsequently wrote a list of boundaries and things I actually want to commit to this new year.
Now, with the new moon coming up on 25th January, the next couple of days will be a great time to rest and reflect. You may also want to set new intentions, write a new list of desire or simply think about some ideas or small action steps that can help you with this year’s goals or dreams you want to achieve.
When I start to align my workflow with the moon energy, I do notice the natural ease and how it just seems to work better for me. As the time of recording this podcast, I start thinking about “seeds” for my next book. For example, new exercises I can throw in, bonus gifts that can be really fun and useful for my readers. I just love this flow. I highly recommend you to try this with me.
Once I started to live more cyclically and find this a more efficient and effective way to live and create things I love, I find it hard to turn back.
What I am talking about is not just some new-age celebrated practices, it is about being part of a more extensive ecosystem. We want to work with nature and not only using our free-will to push and “just make it happen” and force yourself to go against the natural rhythm of life.
So this is what I would suggest doing in the next few days:
- Look at your schedule and try to leave more breathing space to rest, instead of trying to find things to do or meet up with people, actually take it slow and don’t plan too much ahead.
- Pick a way that works for you to reflect. What is that you want to grow and dream about this year? Maybe take a walk in the park or write your journal? How about go for a massage and a cup of tea on your own?
- Keep a notebook near you as the new moon may offer you some really good ideas and inspiration, but you need to BE PRESENT to receive them too.
You know so often the best ideas come to us when we are in a shower? We are not distracted by others or social media, our mind actually gets to take a break to just BE who we are, and that is when the magic happens! The best idea literally comes to mind! We are open to receive them. Again, this is when the feminine energy taking charge!
When you are feeling hopeful, excited, inspired, or in awe, you naturally become an attractor of new opportunities. People are drawn to you for reasons you cannot explain (well, it can be explained, but we will need another episode for that!) You are like surfing a wave and riding it high. It’s an excellent feeling, you know what I am talking about, and that is precisely the feeling I want you to experience with this new moon coming up.
So soak in the new moon energy, be present and enjoy this magical time.
